Utility strains right quad; will be re-evaluated Wednesday
TE ATATU - Wildcats outfielder Ken Sommers left Sunday's game against the Angels with a strained left hamstring.
Sommers started as designated hitter for West City and injured the hamstring during one of his at-bats of the contest.
The Wildcats said that Sommers will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, though he said that the injury does not appear to be severe.
"The pain is not too serious," Sommers said. "It should be fine by then."
Even so, Wildcats assistant manager Gareth Hooton said that in a best-case scenario, the team might be without Sommers's services in the next game.
With only one reserve outfielder – Daniel Powell - on the 15-man roster, injured outfielder Gareth Hooton could garner playing time in Sommers's absence.
"I will be ready for it," Hooton said. "I've been working out hard, and am hitting and running well."
Sommers batted .350 in the Spring Shield, and in the opening game of the Summer Series this season, he is 1-for-3 (.333) with four runs batted in.
